Michael Ting is a Director with Arbor Realty Trust (NYSE: ABR), a public traded Mortgage REIT (Real Estate Investment Trust) that originates & invests in a diversified portfolio of multifamily and commercial real estate related Whole, Bridge & Mezzanine Loans, BNotes, & Preferred Equity investments.

He is responsible for managing operations of structuring, marketing, implementation, private placement of ABR’s Securitization Platform and Portfolio Management of ABR’s Proprietary MultiBillion Dollar Collaterized Debt & Loan Obligations (CDO & CLO) Portfolios.During his tenure with ABR, he executed over $18 Billion of transactions.

Previously, he served as a Director in the Structured Finance Group at Deutsche Bank and Citigroup Investment Banking structuring, managing & private placement of High Yield Corporate Debt/Leverage Loan CDO/CLO/CBOs. Throughout the incumbency of his career, he executed over $100 Billion of related equity/debt capital market
transactions & securitized loans.

His most recent monumental achievements encompass the “First & Sole Three” CRE CLOs, aggregate of $800M to successfully access the Domestic & European Commercial Real Estate Securitization and Capital Market since Credit/Economic Crisis in 2007/2008. These nonrecourse debt vehicles with Replenishments Rights (Reinvestment, Revolving & RAMP) demonstrates significant improvements in pricing (borrowing cost) and matchterm base funding; providing an accretion financing mechanism for the Mortgage REIT’s robust balance
sheet and pipeline.

He holds the Certified Commercial Mortgage Banker (CMB) Designation, the highest professional designation for the real estate finance industry. The Certified Mortgage Banker (CMB) designation is the industry standard of professional success. It symbolizes respect, credibility, ethics, and achievement within real estate finance. Since its inception in 1973, the CMB has been the highest professional designation for the real estate finance industry. He serves as an Adjunct Professor at the NYU Schack Real Estate Institute Master Degree Program instructing the “Real Estate Capital Markets, Real Estate Financial Analysis & Corporate Finance” Classes. These courses are designed to delineate various components of the real estate capital markets and how they interrelate. It provides a general overview to develop an understanding of securitization as a means of channeling capital to real estate financing through debt & equity. Apportionment of the Academic Curriculum reviews current trends in real estate capital markets and recent developments in real estate debt & equity markets where attendants can comprehend the fundamental viewpoints of the major participants, providers and consumers of real estate debt and equity capital. The Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) section of the Academic Curriculum provides discussions of the institutional framework of REITs and analysis of REIT securities.

He serves as a Mentor for the CREFC’s (Commercial Real Estate Finance Council) Education Committee providing Mentorship through educational, networking and career advancement opportunities to Young Professionals within CRE and CMBS related fields. With this initiative, it facilitates Mentorship to Young Professionals gleaning insights from those who have found success both in their careers and the industry as a whole, and whose knowledge would be an invaluable resource for their colleagues and future industry leaders.
