In 2016, Eugene started Agate Properties LLC, which focuses on commercial real estate brokerage and investments in Texas. Prior to starting Agate Properties, he was the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Sky Cap Group, LLC, a real estate holding company founded in 2012 with operations in Houston, Texas and New York City. Eugene was responsible for the strategy and growth of the company in the Texas region. In addition to managing the day-to-day matters, Eugene became a successful commercial real estate agent working with individual & institutional investors, developers, and tenants. His experience ranges across multiple asset classes: retail, office, land, multifamily, hospitality, and warehouses. He specializes in sourcing off-market deals and advises clients through every step of the process which includes property & market analysis, negotiating the terms, performing due diligence, and ensuring a closing that satisfies the client.
Eugene is a strong believer in giving back to the community and providing mentorship. He currently serves as the Vice President of the Asian Real Estate Association of America’s Houston chapter (AREAA Houston) and as the Chair of AREAA’s National Commercial Committee. AREAA’s primary goals are to educate its members, network & promote business opportunities, and to improve our communities. Eugene is a CCIM designee and an active member of the CCIM Houston/Gulf Coast chapter, the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), and the Urban Land Institute (ULI). Eugene is a licensed real estate Broker in Texas.
Before his transition to commercial real estate, Eugene was a credit analyst at CreditSights in New York City where he evaluated debt instruments issued by chemical and mining companies. His valuation and analytical skills provided tremendous value to the company’s customers which included hedge funds, private equity groups, mutual funds, and other asset managers. During his four years there, Eugene obtained the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and remains active with the CFA Society of Houston.
Eugene attended New York University’s Stern School of Business where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Accounting in 2008. He is proficient in the Mandarin and Cantonese languages.
